Hi all - I got a "Plan Election Form" in my box today- I assume everyone did too (or will get it soon). I talked with Cathy Wilder at the DO for some clarification:
1) You're current plan is listed on top. If you don't return the form, you will stay at that plan. IMPORTANT: most members are now at the "base" plan F and will move to the new "base" plan G. This move WILL NOT happen unless you return the form- No one will have their policy changed automatically!!!
2) The $38.11 Cost to Member is labeled "KEA insurance reserve" only to show that the $38.11 is matched by the district. Our contribution goes (no change) to current insurance costs and the district's contribution goes (no change) to the reserve account.
3) Near the bottom it states "August insurance costs will be pro-rated and added to each month, November-June." This means that NEXT August (when there is no paycheck), there is no deduction, so that amount is split between the other paychecks. It's the reason the "$35 per month" is the same as "$38.11 per paycheck". All the amounts listed in the "Cost to Member" row have been adjusted this way so those are the actual amounts per paycheck.
4) ALL payroll deductions in the "Cost to Member" row are taken out of your check pre-tax ONLY IF you've filed a "POP" form with Cathy. This is extremely helpful because it lowers the amount you pay in taxes, so make sure you're not one of the 15 people who haven't filed that 'POP' form (it stands for Premium Only Payment, not that it matters.) How do you know? Look at you last paycheck stub. Find the deduction for "Health and Welfare" if it has an asterisk before it,like: " *Health and Welfare", it's taken out pre-tax, and all payroll deductions for health insurance will remain that way.
Lastly, you can return the form directly to Cathy at the DO or send it to her in the envelope it came in- just change the front to "Cathy Wilder - DO" and scratch out your name, then put it in the IntraDistrict Mail.
Whew! I got information about the Flex plan too, and info. about the how SISC will handle deductions, dates and such, will be forthcoming. Let's do one thing at a time...
